ADVANTAGES IN A NUTSHELL:

Study Anywhere, Anytime: The design of this M.A. allows you to live virtually anywhere and to pursue your studies at your convenience. We pioneered the concept of individually mentored study that is rooted in the learner’s own experience, while our convenient low residency options are based on a nurturing learning community. The Department of Graduate Psychology & Counseling offers both Weekend and National Residency options.

Integrate Theory with Experience: Internships, field work, and other types of experiential learning fuse practice and theory in a dynamic learning model comprised of traditional courses and self study.

Concentrations to Fit Your Career Goals: Union Institute & University’s Department of Graduate Psychology & Counseling offers concentrations in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Criminal Investigative Psychology.

AT A GLANCE

The Department of Graduate Psychology & Counseling offers the Masters of Arts that teach future psychologists and counselor practitioners to identify and treat psychological problems and issues in a variety of clinical, educational, and workplace settings. Learners engage in critical inquiry, read the literature of the field, and explore theory and practice in their particular concentration and pursue applied research.

The Department was designed with several purposes in mind. The first was to offer traditional courses and supervised internship experiences that are increasingly required by state and national agencies and credentialing bodies. The second was to support practitioner-scholars in non-licensure programs to augment their knowledge base and expand their professional skills through semi-structured plans of study which integrate personal interest with current scholarly thinking and research, and applied field experiences in their chosen field of study such as developmental psychology, human development and learning, and industrial and organizational behavior.
