The Florida Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Specialist of Education (Ed.S.) programs, authorized by The Florida Commission for Independent Education in November 2001, are tailored to meet the needs of teachers, counselors, and curriculum developers

The Florida M.Ed. and Ed.S. programs offer learners several unique benefits:

  • We have more than 40 years of experience with adult learners.

  • Learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom, via independent study and courses are scheduled to fit your busy life.

  • You determine your area of interest; we build in the state certification requirements.

  • The program is built upon the five core propositions identified by the National Board for Professional Teaching

  • Standard.Entry examinations such as GREs are not required

  • For some programs, graduate credits earned at other accredited institutions may be accepted.

Program Progress

To fulfill 36-45 semester credit hours required for graduation, learners participate in four residency events for a total of 12 credits. These events are conveniently
scheduled to coincide with the public school vacation calendar. Each learner works collaboratively with the program director, faculty advisor, and adjunct faculty to develop an individualized curriculum of study and research in the selected area of specialization to fulfill the remaining 24 –33 credits of new learning.

Specializations include, but are not limited to:

• Exceptional Student Education
• Elementary Education
• Reading
• Guidance & Counseling
• TESOL
• Educational Leadership
• Mathematics Education

Each area of specialization offers courses developed
to meet state licensing and content standards and
to enhance and refine the skills of the individual whether an administrator, classroom teacher, or counselor.
