Debbie Alicen and Bill Williams represented Union Institute & University at the 2007 International Conference on the Theory and Practice of Human Lactation Research and Breastfeeding Management at Orlando, Florida, January 13-14. On the evening of the 12th as part of the pre-conference events, Debbie and Bill joined the Healthy Children faculty and some UI&U learners and alums in an information session for women who were interested in the university’s bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. It was very exciting to listen as faculty members and learners provided their first-hand experiences with these programs. The evening provided a marvelous showcase for the Healthy Children/UI&U partnership.
The conference also provided Debbie, who works for the master’s program, and Bill, who advises learners pursuing the bachelor’s degree, a welcome opportunity to meet faculty and learners whom we had known only through e-mail and phone conferences.
The pre-conference workshops took place January 11-12 with the presentations for the Core Conference over the weekend. This conference offers attendees a rare opportunity to learn about the latest research and practices from professionals and experts in the field. We hope that more of our learners will be able to attend next year.
