HUNGER MOUNTAIN 's Fall 2003 Issue features photographs by Vermonter John Willis, who teaches at Marlboro College . The series contains black and white portraits of Grandfather Eugene, an elder of the Pine Ridge Oglala Sioux Reservation in South Dakota . The second largest Native American reservation, with a population of over forty-thousand tribal members, Pine Ridge “has been deemed the poorest population in the US.” Follow these links for more info and history about the Pine Ridge Reservation.
