Core Curriculum

Become a Scholarly Practitioner in Your Profession

The core curriculum will prepare learners to advance in jobs within the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, corrections, and the courts. The curriculum is designed to provide learners with expert instruction on the most current trends, policies, and practices in the field. The goal is to prepare learners to become scholarly practitioners in their chosen profession.

Courses are administered in rigorous, eight-week modules. It is suggested that learners complete 12 courses a year; four (4) during the fall semester, four (4) during the spring semester, and four (4) during the summer session. If a learner wishes to register for more than the recommended course work per eight-week module, the learner should consult with his or her UI&U advisor.
